Exciting News!

I don't know how many of you believe in God and healing...

Last night after church our pastor called for people who needed healing to come up and get prayed for.  DD went up and got prayed for twice.  Her back is changed!  It is still curved, but not as much!!  I had my hand on her right shoulder blade (it sticks out the most).  I felt it go down!  Prasie God!  DH said he could see a difference!  Glory to God!  If you have been praying, thank you, keep praying for a complete healing!

Funny (I don't know the right word) thing, you know how our Dr. appointment keeps getting moved?  I was thinking (DD too) that maybe God is moving it on purpose.

Missing Undergarments and a DIY Project

Did I get your attention?

I have to share a little tale of missing undergarments.  It seemed that while getting ready for church a few times I couldn't find my slip.  DD didn't have it, dryer/washer didn't have it.  I was giving up hope of finding it and about to put it on my shopping list.  DH came home one day waving it in his hand (being rather open subtle).  Saying, "Look what slipped under the seat of the car!"  Ah, I do remember.   Here's how it got there.  One Sunday while sitting in church I noticed my slip was showing a bit.  I tried to fix it.  No luck.  So I removed it in the bathroom and then took it out to the car, hide it under the seat so no one would see it.  I guess I did a good job of hiding it!

Now DH is missing some of his undergarments...

I made a little Honey Do list clipboard for my honey today.  I have always felt like a nag giving my DH a list of to-dos, but he loves lists.  And after all these years I think I am finally getting it.  So I made him this little clipboard.  I had a simple title on it, which DH really liked, but I wanted to "dress it up" some.  I got the idea from this blog.  (I can't find the actual post.)

Here's what I did.  I snagged a few paint samples from WalMart...shh.  I kind of felt bad.  But this color had a LOT.  Green is DH favorite color.  I cut them in half length wise with a paper cutter.  The clipboard cost 97 cents at WalMart.
I laid them out, staggering them as I went.  (I don't know why this photo is bigger than the previous.)
I used regular school glue.  Then added a strip of ribbon I used for the curtains in the office.  (Photo coming.)
I let it dry a bit.  Then trimmed the excess.

I have added "Honey Do" per DH request using a labeler.  I placed it in the bottom righthand corner.

Now I need some suggestions.
I made this and then got stuck.  I want to put "You are here" by the little human.  Like you are here in my heart. (the kids didn't get it.)
However, I don't know what to use.
Got any ideas?

For English Press One...

For English Press One (heard twice today)

Excuse me...this is America...right?  Still anyway.

I digress...

DD appointment with the spine Dr. has been canceled.  Our main doc called to et me know that our insurance doesn't let us go to that Dr. (or the other way around).  After a few calls, that went much faster and easier than the previous set of calls, DD will have her spine looked at in June!  Yeap!

Our Story pt 1

As I was taking a shower this morning a was thinking that it has been 19 years this month since dear hubby and I met.  I thought I would write about our story.  So sit back, grab your favorite drink and enjoy...

It was a march evening when the phone rang.  My mom's boyfriend (who is now her hubby) answered and then handed me the phone.  "It's for you."  He said the name...  I thought, I know that name.  I had written it on a huge welcome home sign for a welcome home parade.  I had addressed and received a few letters to that name.  I nervously and excitedly answered the phone.  I don't remember much of the conversation except his voice and that we must have made plans to meet.  His voice was deep and wow, manly.  I was almost 18. ( I was still living at home and in school.)
R (my hubby) came over a few days later.  It was a sunny day with a few clouds.  I wore my baggy purple sweater, jeans ripped in the knees and big hair.  He was wearing black acid washed jeans, a black sweater and black sneakers.  I have to be honest here; I didn't think he was all that attractive.  (He had lost a lot of weight in the war.)  He did have these eyes...blue, captivating blue.
We sat on the couch looking at some photos he brought of his time in the desert.  We talked a bit.  What we said I don't know or how long he stayed.  But he called me again, and we met again.  I remember him letting me drive his bronco to show him where I went to church.  I just got my license a few months prior.  I thought "Wow, this guy must really trust me."
After about a week, he went home to see his family.  He called while he was there.  I felt really special, like there was something there.  I don't know just when this happened, but sometime in the beginning I remember sitting on my bed and  talking to God about R.  I was pretty serious back then, but R was really serious when we first met.  I told God that if he is the one, then I need help living with his seriousness.  R would prove me wrong very soon after that talk with God.
When R got back we actually went on our first date.  It was a mexican resturant in town.  Here's where things get serious...

...but I will leave that for the next part!  heehee

Mad...at Mom

The morning after we hung our chalkboard DS left me this note.
Last night it was gone.
I asked him about it this morning.
He took it down because he was mad at me.

Today's a new day!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my dad's birthday.
(I already missed my mom's...sorry Mom.)

Here's my dad and me in when I was around two.

My dad always the outdoor man, took us canoeing (sp?) often when we lived in Minnesota.  We'd go fishing, hiking, etc.  I remember watching shot his powder gun.  Whenever I smell gun powder (and old spice, also fresh cut wood) I think of my dad.
You can still find my dad outside, doing something, anything.
When I see old cars I still think of my dad.  On my dad's weekends we'd also do a lot of talking.  I liked old cars, we'd talk about that.  We'd talk about what I wanted to be when I grew up.
My dad can pack anything into anything and make it fit just right.
He and my step-mom have always opened their house to anyone.
Here he is with all of us...he has 6 kids, three kid-in-laws, and seven grandkids.
Happy Birthday Dad!

The chalkboard is done!  Hubby was able to hang it last night!
We added a piece of metal so it can be magnetic too.
I added some magnetic pieces to some odd buttons.
(The paint on the walls is going to change!)
I am going gray and yellow, so the walls are going to be more of a buttercream.
When I came into the office this morning, I found this from our son!
You that will stay up there for a long time!

Chalkboard

First, I wanted to let you know that I have a homeschool blog too.  You can check it out here
Fun science experiments there.

I think I have mentioned that I am redoing my our office.  It was becoming a catch all room.
Homeschool stuff, DH stuff, old childrens' books, post its, things that had no place got put in the office.
I have cleaned it out and started on the decorations.

Here, I am working on the chalkboard.
I found this old frame at an antique store.  It was marked $10, but I got it for $5!
I wiped off the dust and am going to leave it all "old" looking.
DH got me the back and the metal.
Here it is before paint.
Here's the paint I used.  I bought it at WalMart, I think for abour $8-$9.  It really covers alot.
I also had alot of the stuff in bins.  I went through the bins and tossed much of it.  The kids either outgrew the items (dress up clothes, etc.) or they just don't use it.
I put the stuff they do use in coffee cans.  I got these cans free from an online yard sale.  Just had to tear off the wrapper and wash.  DS helped me label them.
I am going to get old, gray wall lockers free too.  DH needs to take me to the "source".
Hopefully tomorrow.  They will replace two mismatched bookshelves, we've had for years.

I will post the final chalkboard photo when it's all done!

Space for Rent and Other Random Stuff...

A few years ago we had secret sisters at church.  My secret sister got me this chalkboard.  Just recently I repainted it and even painted over the picture that was on the top.  My family was a bit suprised by that.  So, I wrote "Space for Rent" until I think of something else to put there.
Here are some other random thoughts:

If you own a basset hound the best type of water dish is a butter tub type of container.  It keeps the ears from getting into the water.

When you want a few minutes to yourself and your whole family follows you into into the living room (after you told them you want to be alone) then you are either in trouble or they want to see you explode!

Straightners don't last long at all when owned by a 14 year old girl.

If I don't make my bed in the morning it probably won't get made.

Scoliosis pt3

Ok...I have not been able to update you here in the last few days because I have been on the phone.  No joke.  I wish I could say that I was talking to humans for the most part.

I just got off of the phone (which was busy) and am killing time until I try again.

Let me back up here a bit.  Took DD to Dr.R1 in Jan. when we noticed her spine.  We had just switched Dr.s too.

Dr.R1 reffered us to Dr.R2 (orthopedic).

Dr.R2 reffered us to Dr.M (a spine doc) who is an hour and a 1/2 away.

We have also been to physical therapy twice with Mr.G.

Her appointment with Dr.M was supposed to be tomorrow.  I had to reschedule.

Here's why...when we saw Dr.R2 , he told me to just come on in and pick up the xrays before your appt with Dr.M.  He said it a couple of times.  So I call Dr.R2's office yesterday to get the xrays.  They don't do that.  They mail them to the dr.'s office or you can pay $30 per xray for copies.  I went round and round.  Telling him that had I known this I would've called much earlier!  A big UGH!

So, I had to resedule.  They can't get her in until the middle of April.

Dr.M's office called me to let me know DD has an appt tomorrow (didn't anyone tell her that it was rescheduled?)  She also informed me that I will need to briong a refferal from Dr.R1.  (Thanks for telling me now.)

I also got a letter in the mail from our insurance, which leads me to call them to switch our primary Dr.  After finally getting a human, she tells me that she can't find Dr.R1.

So, I call Dr.1 and hit the wrong number, and get a machine.  I hang up, call again.  Yes, Dr.R1 takes our insurance and I will have to leave a message on the machine that I just hung up on!!!  Hope they don't have caller ID!

I still have to call our insurance and let them know that yes Dr.R1 takes our insurance.

Are you confused?  I am!  Golly, I really feel for those who have to do this on a regular basis!

Also, blogger has reformatted the area where I post and I can't seem to find the spell check...as I know there are mistakes!
