This Close

So, we just had our homestudy  a little over a week ago.  We thought we'd have the bathroom done in plenty of time.  Well, here's what our house looked like the morning of.  (This is clean compared to what it had looked like for days!)

The kitchen table...

Walk in and turn right and this is what you'd run into.

Outside the front door!

We did though.  Hubby was literally cleaning off the table when the contractor walked in!!  She totally understood and was cool with it.

Houston We Have a Bathroom

We finally did.  We finally remodeled our main bathroom.  It needed it SOOO bad too.

Hubby and one of his friends gutted it.  Totally.  From the ceiling to the floor.

We had a plumber come in and update our OLD pipes and help set the tub.
Son and I cleaned everything that came out.  Soaked, scrubbed, shined everything until shine-y new!

New water/mold proof walls and ceiling  went up.
There is really so much more that got done under what you see.

And after about a week plus a few days, MANY, MANY  hours on hubby's part we had our bathroom!

Gone is ALL of the blue.  It's not even allowed in the bathroom anymore!  heehee!

Gone is the old, falling out, moldy blue tiles.  Hello clean, shiny goodness!
So easy to clean now!

Hello fresh!  We only have a few touch ups left.

I can't even tell you how many hours hubby put into this.  I am so proud of him.  We all LOVE it!

Kitchen Decor

I told you I would try to post these by Friday...well that didn't happen.  Life got in the way.
Anyway, here's the new additions to our kitchen.
Our kitchen was Fava Green (like sage).
Now it's Antique Lace with White trim.  SO much brighter.
Also, we had roosters and rooster decor.
Now, I am going...well, I don't really know what style, just whatever I like.

Here is a two-for-one.  I bought these letters at hob lob.
I got inspired by this blog.  I LOVE this color.
It's a 2-4-1...and DS LOVEs to switch them often.  "Eat" and "Tea".

Next, is the black "S".  Also bought at Hob Lob.  I LOVE letters and numbers.  I didn't know just where I wanted to put this.  So for now it goes here!
The numbers I got for 25 cents each at this "junk" store out of town.
I can see myself going back there again and again.
The "98" has no meaning.  Just hung it like that!

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this sign from the "junk" shop.
The thingy under it, I already had.

Ok, I am throwing these out here.  I have these for sale (the chicken has been sold).
Each is only $3.  If you would like to buy them, I accept PayPal.  Thanks!
(The cookie jar is missing the lid.)
Have a nice day!

Chalkboard

First, I wanted to let you know that I have a homeschool blog too.  You can check it out here.
Fun science experiments there.

I think I have mentioned that I am redoing my our office.  It was becoming a catch all room.
Homeschool stuff, DH stuff, old childrens' books, post its, things that had no place got put in the office.
I have cleaned it out and started on the decorations.

Here, I am working on the chalkboard.
I found this old frame at an antique store.  It was marked $10, but I got it for $5!
I wiped off the dust and am going to leave it all "old" looking.
DH got me the back and the metal.
Here it is before paint.
Here's the paint I used.  I bought it at WalMart, I think for abour $8-$9.  It really covers alot.
I also had alot of the stuff in bins.  I went through the bins and tossed much of it.  The kids either outgrew the items (dress up clothes, etc.) or they just don't use it.
I put the stuff they do use in coffee cans.  I got these cans free from an online yard sale.  Just had to tear off the wrapper and wash.  DS helped me label them.
I am going to get old, gray wall lockers free too.  DH needs to take me to the "source".
Hopefully tomorrow.  They will replace two mismatched bookshelves, we've had for years.

I will post the final chalkboard photo when it's all done!

Bathroom "Redo"

When we bought our house about five years ago, we knew we wanted to redo the bathrooms. However, we needed to tackle our debt first. Unfortunately (I am sort of glad!), we had to half redo our bathroom. We call this the blue bathroom. The tub is blue too!! Anyway, we had a leak in under the vanity that ruined it. (Sorry that I don't have a photo of the vanity.) It was the same color brown wood as the mirror with an off white sink. Here's a photo of the bathroom after the vanity was removed. After (stage one)...I painted the mirror to match the new vanity (from Home Depot). I also painted the tacky brass around the light fixture. The toilet barely fit. DH had to cut part of the handle off! As you can see I needed new decor and towels.

I found these pretty items at Hobby Lobby (I wish I could buy half of the store). Each was 1/2 off!! YES!
As you can see I need a few more items to round off the group, an I got new towels!
I got the hand towel, face cloth, shower curtain, plastic shower curtain, curtain hooks and a bath mat for under $40 at Burkes!
Here's a different view...(at this angle you can't see the kids mess on the other side of the sink!)
Any ideas as to what to do with the wood border?
As always, thanks for looking!
