Awhile back I posted that we are going to be trying out Sam's Club to see if it helps on the grocery bill. You gave me advice and tips. Thanks.
I felt I needed to update you. Sorry I have no photos. I always want to just get in and get out.
It seems to be working! Though the drive is a bit long, we have noticed a difference.
Here's what we buy:
Everytime-
POMS toilet tissues (we seriously got through a-LOT)
bottled water
milk (daughter doesn't like the taste, but mama likes the price)
bread
as needed/occasionally-
crackers
vegies/fruit
instant oatmeal
powered drinks
brown sugar/splenda packets
ground meat (not to daughter's liking)
other meats
gum (gotta have the gum)
dishwasher soap
detergent
Here's my stragedy: we buy the items on our everytime list, then depending what is left on my main grocery list I get whatever items I can from the other list. So this time I will get ground meat and detergent, the next time the gum and ... well you get the idea.

thriftiness pays off
I haven't gone thrifting in awhile, but I finally did the other day and look at what I found.
A lovely deep yellow Liz & Co handbag for $6.50!
How much would this worth at Penny's? $30, at least.
I am usually a one purse gal, but I could not pass this up! It's practically brand new.
My gray handbag is my everyday bag. It just fits everything I need and I mean just fits.
Mom's not carring everyone's stuff anymore.
However, when traveling or in need of little more room, the yellow purse will come in super handy.
Don't they make quite the pair.
Never know what you'll find at the thrift stores. Sometimes you just get lucky.

Cork Board, Spines and Mystery Date
I finally redid our corkboard.
I think this was one of my thrifty finds from a long time ago.
I bought this cork board, took this failed frame project
(I didn't reverse the iron-on and the handles wouldn't fit.) attempt at a nifty coffee table tray.
You can see the frame as I bought it here.
After consulting my hubby, I put the two together.
LOVE the detail on the frame! I may paint it.
Just a peek into our homeschool world.
We made a spine.
I have a wonderful hubby.
He called me last week to tell me that he was taking me on a mystery date.
The kids were out of town Friday with the youth.
So he took me up to the mtns (our favorite date place).
We went out to eat and then for coffee!

Creamy Whites
It has started...my creamy white plate obsession collection.
I don't know what it is, but I have like plates for a long time.
I have always liked whites, creamy whites.
Dear son has been saying lately, why does everything have to be white.
I am trying to move to the white side!
Anyway, I wanted to show you my new collection.
I made this from a plate and candle holder, both from thrift stores!
Easy peasy to make!
I am thinking about selling it.
What do you think? And what would you pay for it?
These are for keeps. Found the dinner plates (2) and the smaller one at a thrift.
LOVE it when I find treasures!

Tickets, Thrift Store and Cleaning House
Good morning my faithful readers.
Sorry for my absence. We have been super busy.
For one, I have been cleaning out our house.
I think I need to have a yard sale.
While cleaning out some cabinets in our laundry room,
I found these. I bought them awhile back for our bathroom and
forgot about them. I held them up in various rooms and they just didn't "go".
So off to the yard sale pile.
I have to give you a bit of background on this next photo.
I want to make a tray out of an old frame for our coffee table.
Have looked and looked. I found one at Hobby Lobby...
it was on clearance...but they wanted too much.
My stinginess paid off.
I found this lovely frame for $2.50 at a thrift store.
Though I feel sort of bad for covering someone's painting and hard work,
I am going to do it anyway!
This morning I have all to myself, actually probably the whole day.
Everyone has a place to go today.
So I went yard saling!
My first stop was fruitful. Ladies the house (which is in major need of repair)
was a vintage lovers, fancy high ceiling, delight.
The lady had some really good items but she was asking too much.
(Remember I am stingy.)
Then she said she has some items inside.
Honey, I want that house!
Oh, I know what I would do to fix it up. Golly.
But it was also sad to see a house like that go to waste.
It REALLY is going to take ALOT of work to fix her up.
Anyway, on the porch I spied some old doors and a long and lean
window pane. (You know I LOVE those old window panes!)
I asked if she'd sell it. Yes, and the price was what I had in my head!
Lady, you have yourself a deal!
I will post a photo later.
OH! I forgot until I reread the title of this post about the ticket.
So, I am driving around town, yard saling, when a police man starts following me.
Ok, no biggie, I am going the speed limit.
He keeps following me.
I mean come on now, I am just yard saling officer.
(I did go over by about 5 miles at one point, but very briefly.)
We go by the hospital when he turns on his lights.
Now there's no one else around, so I know he wants me to pull over.
You know why?
One of our tail lights are out.
He was kind enough to just give me a fix-it ticket.
Phew!
Happy Mother's Day!
