The past two years we have had a garden in the backyard.
This year we did something different.
Pots. In the front yard.
Between Dolly digging, the blazing heat of the backyard and watering, this was our best option.
Here we have dill, rosemary, brussel sprouts, strawberries, two bell peppers, and something maybe spinach coming up and tomatoes.
Here's our herbs, most I bought in the produce area at WalMart...oregano, an onion that sprouted in the garage, a celery head that I am trying to get growing, two kinds of thyme, chives and sage. I should've cleared the counter before I took this photo. You can see the container of our scraps for the compost right behind the onion.
Squash (from seed) yellow and green and cantaloupe from an actual cantaloupe.
Cucumbers...can you see them? We haven't had luck with cucumbers from seed. We may have to buy that plants if these don't make it. Kale, already used in our smoothies and rhubarb. As far as the rhubarb goes, I swore I bought artichoke, but oh well, we'll give the rhubarb a go and see what happens. We may end up loving it. I need to figure out what to do with it though beside rhubarb pie.
I already like our container garden, simply because we don't hardly have to water them. Which is a BIG, BIG plus here.
