My post is kind of messed up...I am super tired!
Here's my hubby home from Desert Storm with his parents.  He was in the local paper back home.
His parents faces say it all!

I have always loved this photo.  These kids and my hubby went to the same middle school.
The flags, the looks on their faces, my handsome hubby all dressed up!
This was in the paper too.

Go go go go...has been my day.  And I am beat. (so please over look any misspelled words as I am sure I missed some.) Or church had a MAJOR outreach, with impact teams and a 2 1/2 hour concert.  I helped make and serve the food, clean up, keep things going at the park/concert, look for missing keys and then tear down.  Hubby has been going since 9:30 and is still loading/unloading!

I wanted to pop in and wish you Happy Memorial Day and share a couple of photos with you.  The Pioneer Woman in having a photography thingy (sorry too tired to find the right word) showing soliders coming home.  Make sure you have tissue handy! I submitted the two above.

Some Funnies

"Mom, what's for dinner?"  "Stick on a steak."  "I have always wanted to eat sticks."

"Mom, what's wrong with your leg?"  "What?"  "It looks all wrinkly."  We asked dad...he answered with a chuckle, "Cell-U-lite."  "What's that?"  "A type of fat."  "You need to exercise more."  We went on to explain that you really can't get rid of it.

My son has been into showing me is growing muscles.  So, I flexed my arm for him.  He half laughed and freaked out.  "Do it again."  (My arm giggles a bit as it makes a muscle!)  So, when I want to gross him out I show him my guns.

I know there's more...but they have slipped my mind.  What are some funny things your family has said in the last week?

Flipping Through the Photos

Tuesday was our last day of school!
Our son told me today that he is actually sad that school is done for the summer.
"Um...you are not the same boy I brought home to homeschool."
I can't tell you how far he's come.

So, our dining room wall does not look like this...at least for a few months.
(the photos have NOT been touched up at all, sorry.)

I know you all wanted to see my nose like this.
This was a science experiment.

Have you tried this?  Mmmm, mmm good.!

I was going through my junk frames and found this.
I have always liked it, but red, well it just doesn't go with my decor.

So, I painted it, well white.  My color of choice lately.
I have no idea what to put inside.
I also took the plastic out.

Oh and the whole thing with doing what hubby wants, I have been doing good, but he really hasn't asked much of me.

I found two treasures this week.  Post to come.
I have one busy schedule today, well for the next week or more!

Thanks for reading!

Unsettling Site

I look out my kitchen window last night and see my son talking to someone in a car.

Even though he has a friend with him, I go out to check it out.

The elderly man in the car is a neighbor; one we don't know.  He asked our son if he could walk his dog for a few bucks.

My mama bear is rearin' up.  But trying not to go overboard.  I stand close by, but not too close.  (I wanted to see how son handles this.)

So, as I talk to my son about it a bit later, he tells me that the man is weird to him.

Me: "Does he make you feel uncomfortable?"

Son: "Yes."

Me: "You don't need to walk his dog."

Problem solved.  The elderly man is probably a decent guy just needing some help.  BUT I am not going to make our son do it if he feels uncomfortable, not in this situation at least.

Copycat Signs

I LOVE Etsy!
I always get great ideas there.
I have had my eye on this for awhile now...
...and this.

So yesterday I made my own.
Recently I bought a "C" on wood in the clearance section at Pier One.
I never really found a place for it.
So, I turned it into this...

I used my handy dandy PSE5 and a mask from Amanda Rockwell.  Did alittle playing around, printed it up (on printer paper).  And rubber cemented it on.
(I know there are two misspelled words...that's how I role!)

I liked it so much I made a coffee themed one for the kitchen.
I have had this chalkboard for sometime.  I repainted it, even over the picture on the top.
My family kept asking me when and what was I going to do with it.
I finally found it!

Just to let you know our cabinets are not that shiney.
Thanks to Pioneer Woman's photo actions they got a nice
glossy coat!

Random Mumblings

So it's Monday and my mind is a jumble of things to blog about.

Our son seems to be eating miracle grow.  I swear he is taller everyday.  Our two children are now the same hight and almost taller than me.

My God is a good god.

School (for us) gets out Tuesday!  DD may have to go longer just so she can finish her final test in math.

We finally found some wall lockers for the office!  Yay!  Now hopefully I can finish it.

I am glad to know that I am not alone on the tatoo thing. Thanks for your comments!

Sometimes I seem to get these funk attitudes towards my hubby, the man a love.  It happened yesterday.  I just came in from church (he got home before me).  He asked if I would mind making a salad.  (I wanted to change and start a load of laundry.)  I told him "Yes I do mind, but I will do it."  (yikes lady!)  Then I stayed in the funk through lunch.  I don't mean to get like this.  And I don't like it.  I need to break it!  So this week I am going to do whatever he asks me to do...and try not to get in a funk about it.  I have to tell you that my hubby doesn't ask me for much and he is very reasonable.  He does things for me (usually) when I ask.  So why do I get like this?  Anyway, I am going to keep track of his requests and how I respond for you.

This morning (even before my shower) he called and asked if I could move the truck out of the driveway.  He found a wall locker and was bringing it home.

Him: Move the truck  Me: No problem (I mean he's doing it for me! heehee!!)
Him: Get him tape and help him get the locker off of the truck  Me: done with a good attitude!

So far so good!

Tats and Texting

Soapbox warning...

Maybe I am old fashioned or out of touch, but there are two things that have been getting on my nerves.

The cashier at Dunkin Donuts texting a girl in the store while taking our order.

Someone texting while "talking" to you.

Seeing people talk to themselves (blue tooth) at the store.

Just call me...I don't text!!

The lady at the admin in the hospital has a tatoo.

The lady taking my blood has a tatoo.

Seeing a memorial for your late grandpa on your leg.

Tatoos, everywhere.  I mean, they used to be for sailors and really tough guys.  Not...well, I will leave it right there.

I do have to mention that the mexican restaurant that we went to on Mother's Day, made a big impression.  The waitresses had to cover their tats with arm bands.  Thank you owner!

Maybe it's just me...

Here I am with my Grandma (visiting) and our daughter.
Three days later our son was born.

Here is the note my hubby got at work telling him to come home...
I'm having the baby.

Here is my dad and son.
Son is probably about 2 weeks old here.

Feeling Chirpy

Good morning!  I am happy to be feeling MUCH better.  DS and I caught the common cold.
We also had a concert on a reservation and saw 10 Native Americans give their lives to Jesus!!
Probably about the same amount get healed!
God is good and is moving among the Native Americans.

This year we've been getting visited by a new type of bird.
The Western Tanager.
It's such a striking bird.
They are similar to the Robin in many ways, maybe that explains
why I like them so much.  Robins are one of my favorite birds.

I need to get going.  Get ready for school.  Only 7 more days!!
Have a nice day.

My Mother's Day

Today, I can barely keep my eyes open.
Blame it on staying up past our bedtime last night.
Blame it on the high winds which are probably filled with things that make my nose stuffed and my head heavy.
Blame it on it being Monday.

Anyway, yesterday was a good day for me.
I have to be honest...I really don't like it when holidays fall on Sundays.  We are so busy on Sundays that having a holiday, can kind of throw it off.
Anyway, I didn't get flowers from my hubby or kids.  And no cards.
BUT...they did make me computerized notes.  They were sweet and better then cards.
Hubby make pancakes, just for me.  YUM!
We went out for Mexican food!  Another YUM!
I took a big, fat nap...need another one!
Got a flower from church and from the restuarant...thoughtful!

Hope you had a great day!

Tickets, Thrift Store and Cleaning House

Good morning my faithful readers.
Sorry for my absence.  We have been super busy.
For one, I have been cleaning out our house.
I think I need to have a yard sale.

While cleaning out some cabinets in our laundry room,
I found these.  I bought them awhile back for our bathroom and
forgot about them.  I held them up in various rooms and they just didn't "go".
So off to the yard sale pile.

I have to give you a bit of background on this next photo.
I want to make a tray out of an old frame for our coffee table.
Have looked and looked.  I found one at Hobby Lobby...
it was on clearance...but they wanted too much.
My stinginess paid off.
I found this lovely frame for $2.50 at a thrift store.
Though I feel sort of bad for covering someone's painting and hard work,
I am going to do it anyway!

This morning I have all to myself, actually probably the whole day.
Everyone has a place to go today.
So I went yard saling!
My first stop was fruitful.  Ladies the house (which is in major need of repair)
was a vintage lovers, fancy high ceiling, delight.
The lady had some really good items but she was asking too much.
(Remember I am stingy.)
Then she said she has some items inside.
Honey, I want that house!
Oh, I know what I would do to fix it up.  Golly.
But it was also sad to see a house like that go to waste.
It REALLY is going to take ALOT of work to fix her up.

Anyway, on the porch I spied some old doors and a long and lean
window pane.  (You know I LOVE those old window panes!)
I asked if she'd sell it.  Yes, and the price was what I had in my head!
Lady, you have yourself a deal!

I will post a photo later.

OH!  I forgot until I reread the title of this post about the ticket.
So, I am driving around town, yard saling, when a police man starts following me.
Ok, no biggie, I am going the speed limit.
He keeps following me.
I mean come on now, I am just yard saling officer.
(I did go over by about 5 miles at one point, but very briefly.)
We go by the hospital when he turns on his lights.
Now there's no one else around, so I know he wants me to pull over.
You know why?

One of our tail lights are out.

He was kind enough to just give me a fix-it ticket.
Phew!

Happy Mother's Day!

Toot Toot ScrapMatters Blog Train

Welcome to your next stop on the ScrapMatters' iNSD blog train.
This train has stops all over the world!  You have just stopped in the southwest of the US where the sun shines most of the time and the wind is blowing so much that there's dirt in the air.
(Hopefully, you have just come from Amanda's Blog.)

The theme for our NSD mage-collab is "Moments that Matter".  At each stop you have probably been reading about special times in people's live.  Hopefully, you're not all read-out by now.
I will try to keep it short and sweet.

We started homeschooling our son in 4th grade.
The first year wasn't easy for him or for me.
There were days that we felt so frustrated.
I really had to stay focused on why we were doing this.
Then one day he gave me this note.
It reads:  "Thach You For teahing me and feeding me.  I Love you MOM!  Love, (his name)"

We have come a long way in those three years.
However, the note is on my frig to this day.
(For days when I still need to remember why we do this.)

Now for your freebie: Now closed

Your next stop should be Becca's blog.
