Detergent

Making my own detergent has been on my to-do list for too long.
One of my blogging friends wrote this post and inspired me to get it going.
One of the members of our family gets skin "stuff" (Dr.s keep guessing) and this may help.

You need 2 1/2 bars of ivory soap...

...1 cup Borax...

...1 cup Arm & Hammer WASHING soda.  This is not available here.  I bought a box (bigger then I thought) from a friend.

Shred the bars of soap in food processor, with OUT the blade.
Empty out the shredded soap and add blade.

Pour in Borax, Washing Soda and soap.  Blend away until you have a fine powder.

This is how much it made.  Denise has all of it nicely broken down on her blog.

I have to be honest, the smell from the ivory stinks-to me.
I just washed our bathroom mats with this and so far so good.

I will let you know how it works after I use it a few times.
Let me know if you make/use this too.

i have been using this for some time now. and i love it. the laundry doesn't smell like anything after it's washed -- which is fine by me.

DH noticed that the socks were whiter. and Katie's skin issues have cleared up.
