Service is for a Lifetime

I had a dream last night that I went to Pioneer Woman's ranch and hung out with her and Charlie.
My husband woke this morning from a "war dream".
He has had a few of those before.
Not too many and not too bad.
When we first were married he woke up one night yelling "Get down! Get down!"
That only happened once, but I will never forget it.

My hubby is a hard working man who loves God and his family.
He is very funny, loves to hunt and eat.

He is also a former Marine, a wartime vet.

While he has no physical scars, there are a few marks on his heart.
I have seen his face when asked if he killed anyone over there.
He knows he more than likely did.
He knows he saved lives too.
There was a time, and even every now and then, when if you came up behind him unannounced he had a trained reaction that...well, Marines are trained to do damage with or without a gun.

While my husband doesn't know I am writing this and he doesn't talk about this much at all, today is Veteran's
Day and I know first hand some of the price our men and women have paid.  The price the families left at home have paid.

Happy Veteran's Day to all those who have served and are serving now!  Thank you is just not enough.

Happy Veteran's Day to you too! No such thing here, although we are remembering the end of WWI in Europe this week.
And I'm curious... Did you enjoyed visiting PW on the ranch? Did you get to cook and stay at the lodge! That should be SOO much fun!!

Patti...I will, thanks!

Monique...It was a strange dream with PW. I didn't cook or even eat. That would have been fun. ;)
